Manzanita Wall Hangings
Designs using my favorite type of dowel

“Any of several evergreen shrubs or small trees of the genus Arctostaphylos of the heath family, native to the Pacific coast...”
Did you know that manzanita means little apple in Spanish? In the spring, Manzanita trees sprout pink/white flowers and drop berries that look like miniature apples.
My husband found these manzanita branches on the side of the road when we lived in San Diego (don't worry, they were found already detached and looking quite weathered) so he grabbed them not knowing what we could use them for. Years later after holding onto them, here we are with beautiful dowels and two of my first pieces I made towards growing my business!
The top dowel in the picture above was un-sanded and the bottom dowel was sanded without any kind of finish on it. When Manzanita is sanded and finished, it turns into a buttery smooth finish and brings out a gorgeous red hue! Both pieces below have since been sold but look how gorgeous the cream lays with the red!
*Similar designs can be made for future pieces upon request. I'd love to chat with you to find the perfect wood dowel for your space and taste! Send me a message and let's get creating!
